ID Tech IDT3840 Magnetic Card Encoder

The ID Tech IDT3840 magnetic card encoder reader-writer has two magnetic heads to enable it to write and verify data with a single pass. Depending on the model, it is capable of encoding any of two or three tracks at either 75 or 210 BPI density.

The ID Tech IDT3840 magnetic card encoder reader-writer reads and decodes up to three tracks of information with a single swipe. A long stainless-steel card guide ensures better card registration and minimizes alignment problems. Magnetic stripe data is output to a standard RS-232 serial interface.

The ID Tech IDT3840 magnetic card encoder reader-writer verifies the written magnetic stripe data in ISO/ANSI or user-defined formats. Verification status is signaled by a series of three LED indicators.

Compatible with ISO/ANSI, AAMVA, and California DMV formats, the ID Tech IDT3840 magnetic card encoder reader-writer can be programmed using menu-driven operating software. User-programmable features include component tests, read and write functions that display the data, and card comparison routines. Configuration settings can also be user-defined.

Sequential write - Writes incrementing data to a series of cards on a specified track

Select com port - Selects serial communication port (Com 1 or Com 2)
Check device model - Displays the model number and card type
Select parity - Selects parity for each track (odd, even, or none)
Select card type - Selects card standards (ISO, CA DMV, AAMVA, or user-defined)
Set leading zeros - Change the number of leading zeros for 210 BPI and 75 BPI
Set BPI for Track 2 - Sets bits per inch for Track 2 (75 or 210)
Check firmware - Displays the current firmware version
